Plasterers Sydney – Level 4 and Level 5 Finish
What is the difference between a Level 4 and Level 5 plastering (Gyprocking) finish?
Level 4 Plastering
Level 4 is the industry standard plastering process applied when installing Gyprock to a wall or ceiling.
The Level 4 plastering process involves affixing the plasterboard to the surface (eg, wall or ceiling) and then adding tape to conceal any joints. A joint compound is then applied to further conceal the joint. This is then sanded and, in some instances, the plasterer may apply a second or third coast of joint compound to make the joint less noticeable.
Our specialist plasterers take this to the next level to ensure a flawless job every time without imperfections…
Level 5 Plastering
If a Gyprock (plaster) wall or ceiling is not finished correctly, when angled or direct light (i.e. ‘glancing light’) reflects across it, imperfections become evident and, are even enhanced.
Typically, the more glass a property has, the more ‘glancing light’ will reflect off surfaces such as walls and ceilings.
Light coming in through windows, reflections from pools and hard surfaces, shadows from trees, and much more, can all contribute to an increase in ‘glancing light’. Similarly, internal lighting (downlights, lamps, etc) cast shadows across walls and ceilings and greatly enhance imperfections.
A level 5 plastering finish involves all the same processes as Level 4 but with a layer of joint compound is applied to the entire wall or ceiling. This is then sanded and, if required, another application may be applied. The Level 5 plastering process removes all imperfections, leaving an exceptionally flawless finish.
